"Soy malagueño" is perhaps the most emblematic song in the folk corpus of Bahía Málaga,
expressing locals' pride in their unique identity that sets them apart from other Afro-Colombian communities of the country's Pacific Coast.
The lyrics reference piangüar, the traditional practice of harvesting pianguas—an endemic clam species—as a distinctive element of the cultural heritage of Bahía Málaga.
