Soy casteñita walinera1
De mi pueblo San Pedro de Casta
Con mi ruina Marcahuasi
Ay, qué orgullosa me siento

Canta, canta tu walina1
Con pañuelos en la mano
Van flameando de alegría
Por amor a nuestras aguas

Nube negra de los Andes
Suéltame tus gotas de agua
Para tener tus caudales
Dentro de mis manantiales
I am a walinera1 from Casta
From my village San Pedro de Casta
Home to the ruins of Marcahuasi
Oh, how proud I feel

Sing, sing your walina1
With handkerchiefs held in your hands
Fluttering with pure joy
For the love of our waters

Dark cloud of the Andes
Release your raindrops upon me
So that your flowing currents
May fill my mountain springs

1. A walinera is a singer of walina, a genre of ritual water song from San Pedro de Casta. Sometimes spelled hualina, the term derives from warina, a reference to the ancient Wari civilization that built Casta's irrigation system.
